Volleyball hosts two conference matches this weekend

Bearcats to host UMass Lowell and UNH on Homecoming Weekend

VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton volleyball team (3-12, 1-1 AE) is set to host two conference matches at the West Gym this weekend. In the home opener on Friday, Binghamton will face UMass Lowell at 7 p.m. followed up by a contest against New Hampshire at 1 p.m. Sunday. This weekend is Binghamton University's Homecoming Weekend, a list of athletics events can be found here.

Binghamton finally at home
The Bearcats will play on their home court this weekend for the first time after spending the first month and a half of the season on the road. Last weekend, Binghamton dropped a tight match to UAlbany. The Great Danes defeated the Bearcats 3-1. Gaby Alicea lead the Bearcats with 15 kills and 11 digs while Erin Shultz and Victoria Keghlian each posted 12 kills. Samantha Gioiosa posted a new career-high 25 digs.

Alicea chasing history
Senior outside hitter Gaby Alicea is tied for fourth in Binghamton volleyball history with 1,077 career kills. The reigning America East Player of the Year has recorded 185 kills for a 3.49 kills per set average this season.

A look at Lowell
Umass Lowell (1-15, 0-3 AE) is looking for their first conference win of the season when they travel to Binghamton this weekend. The Riverhawks have dropped all three of their America East contests this season, falling to New Hampshire 3-0, Stony Brook 3-0 and Hartford 3-0. In their loss to Hartford, Madi Bell lead the team with 11 kills while McKenna Bova recorded 18 assists.

Scouting UNH
New Hampshire (6-11, 2-1 AE) is coming off a 1-1 weekend where they defeated Hartford 3-0 and fell to Stony Brook 3-1. Gabri Olhava leads the team with 214 kills for a 3.19 kills per set average. Emma Patlovich has recorded 576 assists while Emily Tanski leads the team and the conference with 329 digs.
