Women’s Basketball Loses 86-49 at Ohio

Boland nets 12 points, Moon finishes with nine points

ATHENS, Ohio – Cierra Hooks scored a game-high 20 points and Erica Johnson added 19 points, powering Ohio to an 86-49 win over Binghamton in a non-conference women's basketball game on Thursday morning at the Convocation Center. The game marked the Bearcats' second straight road contest.

The Bearcats jumped out to a 22-18 lead after the opening period. Senior forward Rebecca Carmody and sophomore guard Lizzy Spindler each scored six points during that stretch and Binghamton drained five of its 10 three-point field goal attempts.

Binghamton was clinging to a 29-28 lead with 4:19 left in the second period. From there, however, Ohio went on a 9-4 run to take a 37-33 lead at the break. Johnson had five of her points during that stretch.

The Bobcats blew the game open with a 13-2 run in the opening 2:39 of the third period to take a 50-35 left. Hooks had six of her points during that stretch.

From there, Ohio finished with 49 second-half points and held the Bearcats to 5-of-33 from the field.

Junior guard Carly Boland led the Bearcats with a season-high 12 points. Junior guard Kai Moon finished with nine points while Carmody added eight points and a team-best seven rebounds.

Binghamton returns home to face Caldwell on Sunday at 2 p.m.
