VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton men's basketball faces in-state rival Colgate for the ninth consecutive year when the Bearcats (1-3) and Patriot League member Raiders (3-1) tip-off Monday night. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Cotterell Court in Hamilton. The game is the fourth and final for both teams as part of the Central New York Hoops Classic.Â
Binghamton is coming off an 82-54 defeat at Big Ten member Northwestern on Friday. After a sluggish start, BU outscored the Wildcats in the second half, thanks to 48 percent shooting. Senior guard
J.C. Show (6-of-14 FG) tallied 12 of his game-high 15 points in the final period to pace the Bearcats. Freshman guard
Sam Sessoms added 11 points and three assists. In his longest collegiate stint, freshman forward
Calistus Anyichie chipped in 10 rebounds, four points and a pair of steals.Â
Sessoms, last week's America East Rookie of the Week, leads BU with 17.3 points per game. Show is averaging 12.5 points. Senior forward
Chancellor Barnard is averaging 8.8 points and 5.3 rebounds. Senior forward
Caleb Stewart leads the team with 5.8 rebounds per game. Binghamton is averaging 73.2 points per game but is giving up 76.5.Â
Colgate is coming off an 86-68 home win over Division III Nazareth on Wednesday. After the BU game, the Raiders will brace for an away game at Syracuse on Wednesday. Earlier in the season, Colgate lost to NJITÂ in overtime and then defeated Monmouth and Cornell. The Raiders are scoring 81 points per game and shooting 49 percent from the floor. They also are plus eight on the glass.
The Raiders lead the all-time series 10-4, but BU has won the last three games, including a 76-65 win last Dec. 2 in Vestal. In that game last season, center
Thomas Bruce poured in 26 points and 12 rebounds and BU held the Raiders to seven second-half field goals. Colgate holds a 5-2 series lead at Cotterell Court.Â
