Women’s Basketball Beats Army 60-47

Ramil and Carmody notch double-doubles, Boland adds 11 points

VESTAL, N.Y. – Sophomore forward Olivia Ramil and senior forward Rebecca Carmody each recorded a double-double, leading Binghamton (4-3) to a 60-47 win over Army (1-4) in a non-conference women's basketball game on Sunday afternoon at Dr. Bai Lee Court at the Events Center. The game marked the third contest in the Bearcats' season-long, four-game home stand.

Ramil finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds for her first career double-double. She also added four assists, two blocks and a steal. Carmody, meanwhile, turned in a 10-point, 12-rebound effort. It was her fifth career double-double and first of the season.

Also reaching double figures in scoring for the Bearcats was junior guard Carly Boland, who netted 11 points to go along with seven rebounds, three assists and a pair of blocks.

"This was a really great win against a tough team," head coach Bethann Shapiro Ord said. "I am proud of our girls because they came back from Wednesday's game and competed very well."

Down 24-22 at the half, Binghamton outscored Army 21-7 in the third period to go up 43-31. Boland led a balanced attack with a pair of three-point field goals during that stretch.

In the first five minutes of the fourth period, the Bearcats extended their lead to 54-33. Ramil went a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line during that stretch.

Army scored 10 straight points in the ensuing three minutes of play, trimming the deficit to 54-43 with 1:52 remaining in regulation. Layups by Ramil, Carmody and Boland down the stretch, however, iced the game.

Jess Lewis led all scorers with 16 points for Army. Her teammate Kate Murray added 11 points.

Sophomore forward Kaylee Wasco and freshman forward Annie Ramil each scored eight points.

Binghamton pulled down a season-high 49 rebounds against the Black Knights. It also held a 34-18 advantage in points in the paint.

The Bearcats wraps up their home stand against Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday at 7 p.m.

NOTES: Carmody, who has reached double figures in scoring three straight games, continues to lead the Bearcats with 13.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. She is also averaging a team-best 2.6 assists and 2.0 steals per contest … the last time two Bearcat players recorded a double-double in the same game took place on Dec. 15, 2015 when Imani Watkins had 20 points and 10 rebounds and Carmody added 11 points and 10 rebounds.
