Women’s Basketball Hosts Cornell

Unbeaten Bearcats face Big Red on Friday at 5:30 p.m.

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (1-0) defeated Charleston 69-62 on Tuesday night in the debut of first-year head coach Bethann Shapiro Ord. Senior forward Rebecca Carmody led all scorers with 16 points while sophomore forward Olivia Ramil finished with 10 points. Junior guard Karlee Krchnavi grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds while junior guard Carly Boland turned in a nine-point, six-rebound, five-assist, four-block, two steal performance.
 
- Cornell opens its season having gone 7-20 overall in 2017-18. Samantha Widmann is the top returning scorer for the Big Red, having averaged 14.5 points per game a year ago.
 
- Binghamton leads the all-time series against Cornell, having won 66-58 in overtime on Dec. 18, 2017 in Ithaca. Current senior forward Rebecca Carmody netted 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the victory. Cornell, however, has taken the past two meetings at the Events Center -- with victories during the 2012-13 and 2016-17 campaigns.
 
- With the victory over Charleston, the Bearcats won their season opener for the first time since the 2011-12 season. The last time they started a season 2-0 came during that same year.

- This season marks the first time during its 18-year NCAA Division I era that Binghamton has played its first two games at home.
