Baseball loses at Northwestern State 9-1

Hosts score in five of first seven innings to take second game of weekend series in Louisiana

Natchitoches, La. - Northwestern State (2-0) scored runs in five of the first seven innings and toppled Binghamton baseball (0-2) 9-1 Saturday afternoon at Brown-Stroud Field. 

The hosts used single runs in the second, third and fifth innings to build a lead and then broke the game open with two runs in the sixth and four more in the seventh. The Bearcats were limited to four hits and a lone run in the seventh inning. 

Senior catcher Jason Agresti collected his first RBI of the season in the seventh inning when his double to center scored senior shortstop Paul Rufo, who had led off the inning with a walk. 

Senior starter Jacob Wloczewski (L, 0-1) struck out seven and allowed just two hits in his 4.1 innings. Wloczewski allowed three runs and then three Bearcat relievers surrendered the remaining six runs. 

Senior center fielder CJ Krowiak and junior right fielder Anthony Meduri each had a double. 

The teams finish up their three-game series Sunday at 11:30 a.m. (EST).
