CATONSVILLE, Md. - Host UMBCÂ (5-14, 3-1 America East)Â scored the game's final six runs to rally past Binghamton baseball (4-14, 1-3 AE) 8-6 Friday afternoon at Alumni Field. The teams will finish up their three-game series with a doubleheader beginning at noon on Saturday.
The Bearcats appeared poised to run away with the game after belting two home runs in the first four innings and building a 6-2 cushion. But UMBCÂ scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and then snapped a 6-6 deadlock with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Binghamton, meanwhile, was held without a hit over the final five innings and was outhit for the game 13-6.

Anthony Meduri drew a one-out walk and senior shortstop
Paul Rufo followed with a two-run home run - his second of the season. But the Retrievers countered with three hits, including a solo home run, in the bottom of the first to draw even, 2-2, just as the skies opened up.
After a brief rain delay, BU reclaimed the lead in the top of the third inning. Meduri singled to lead off the inning and went to third on a failed pickoff. With one out, senior catcher
Jason Agresti hit an RBI single to deep short, giving BU a 3-2 lead.Â
Senior starter
Jacob Wloczewski struck out the side in the bottom of the third and BU went on the attack again in the fourth inning, scoring three runs on three hits. Junior designated hitter
Sean Trenholm started things with a solo home run to left - his first career homer. Senior center fielder
CJ Krowiak walked, Meduri singled and then Rufo hit an RBI double to make it 5-2. Agresti followed with a fly ball to left to bring in BU's sixth run.Â
But in the bottom of the fourth, UMBCÂ had its first five batters reach base and when the damage was done, the hosts had scored four runs on five hits and chased Wloczewski from the game.Â
In the sixth, UMBCÂ scored the deciding runs on a two-out RBI double and a two-out RBI single. Freshman
Reid VanScoter (L, 0-1) struck out four in his 2.2 innings of work.Â
Rufo went 2-for-5 with three RBI, Meduri was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and Agresti drove in two runs.  Â
Sophomore
Jake Miller pitched the final 2.1 innings for BU and held UMBC without a hit with three strikeouts.Â
