WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Binghamton baseball (9-18-1, 5-7 America East) dropped a pair of games at Hartford (13-19, 8-4 AE), losing 6-3 and 3-2 Saturday afternoon at Fiondella Field.Â
In the opener, the Hawks snapped a 3-3 tie with three deciding runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. A double, single and walk loaded the bases and an ensuing bases-clearing double did the damage. Meanwhile, Hartford pitching kept BU off the board for the final six innings.Â
Sophomore third baseman
Justin Drpich went 2-for-4 with two RBI and senior first baseman
Luke Tevlin went 2-for-4 with an RBI.Â
In the nightcap, the Bearcats rallied to tie the score with a run in their final at-bat only to see Hartford respond with the walk-off walk in the bottom of the seventh.Â
Senior shortstop delivered the key RBI single with two outs in the top of the seventh to tie the score at 2-2. But with two outs in the bottom of the frame, the Hawks used a single, infield single and hit batter to load the bases and completed the sweep with a base on balls.
Tevlin went 3-for-4 and Drpich and sophomore outfielder
Daniel Franchi each went 2-for-3.
The Bearcats outhit their hosts 11-9 but left 10 stranded on the bases.Â
After using a six-game unbeaten streak to spark momentum last week, BU dropped all three games at Hartford to fall under the .500 mark in conference play. The Bearcats next play at Marist on Wednesday.Â
