Softball Heads to Maine for AE Series

Bearcats and Black Bears to play noon DH on Saturday, single game on Sunday at 11 am







STORY LINES

- Binghamton (11-21, 4-7 AE) was defeated 8-1 by Syracuse on Tuesday. Senior outfielder Jessica Rutherford went 2-for-3 with a RBI.

- Rutherford ranks second in the America East with a .394 batting average. Senior third baseman Kate Richard is tied for second with six home runs and is tied for third with 23 RBI.

- Maine (18-19, 7-3 AE) lost 5-4 at first-place UMass Lowell on Tuesday afternoon. Maddie Decker homered and drove in a pair of runs for the Black Bears.

- Rachel Carlson leads the Black Bears and is ranked eighth in the America East with a .344 batting average. Alyssa Derrick is tied for fourth with five home runs while Decker is tied for third with 23 RBI. On the mound, Annie Kennedy is 9-4 and leads the conference with a 1.35 ERA.

- Maine leads the all-time series 31-18. Last season, the Bearcats swept a home conference series from April 29-30 but the Black Bears eliminated Binghamton with a 2-1 triumph at the America East Tournament. Maine has won all eight previous series against the Bearcats in Orono.
