VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton women's basketball program has announced the hiring of Matt Thune as an assistant coach. He has worked the past three years at Weber State, along with head coach Bethann Shapiro Ord, before being hired by Boston College this past June.

While at Weber State, Thune was part of a program that posted two 20-plus win seasons, including two appearances in the WBI Tournament. In the 2015-16 season, Weber won 23 games, which set a new single-season program record for victories.

Thune worked with the post players, assisted in implementing defensive schemes, and offensive special situations. He was also an academic coordinator for the team, helped run the youth and elite camps and oversaw the program's social media outlets.

"We are excited to have Matt join us at Binghamton," Shapiro Ord said. "He is a very innovative coach who is very good at working with players and breaking down game film. He was a key part of our success and will be just as much here."

Prior to Weber State, Thune worked for the Louisville women's basketball program, with his first stint as a volunteer assistant. He was the video coordinator in 2013 and also served as an interim assistant coach for recruiting. He oversaw the video department, film exchange, team scouting, and managed the team of male practice players.

Thune, a native of Indianapolis, graduated from Indiana with a degree in psychology and a minor in management in 2012. He earned his Master's degree in Sports Administration from Louisville in 2014.
