Three-day event runs from Oct. 5-7

VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton University Athletic Department has released its schedule of events for Homecoming Weekend, which will be held Oct. 5-7. In addition to the alumni gatherings and tailgate, four Bearcat teams have home events during that stretch.

Seven Binghamton athletic programs have formal alumni events during the weekend, starting with the men's lacrosse alumni game on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Bearcats Sports Complex. The following day, the Bearcats Sports Complex will hold events for women's soccer (11:30 a.m.), men's soccer (noon) and women's lacrosse (1 p.m.).

The Events Center will be the site of the women's basketball alumni event at 1 p.m. On the West Gym Courts, the women's tennis program gathers at 9:30 a.m. while the men's event starts at 10 a.m.

Both the volleyball and swimming & diving programs will host their home-opening contests during the weekend. The volleyball team, which was the America East runner up in 2017, hosts UMass Lowell on Friday at 7 p.m. and New Hampshire on Sunday at 1 p.m in the West Gym. The swimming & diving program, meanwhile, hosts Vermont ant NJIT in a tri-meet on Saturday at noon at the West Gym Pool.

The men's soccer team is also in action on campus during Homecoming Weekend. The Bearcats square off against Stony Brook at 6 p.m. at the Bearcats Sports Complex. Since the facility opened in 2007, the men's soccer Homecoming Game has averaged 2,026 fans and has sold out twice (2,500).

Also on Sunday, the women's soccer team, which is the defending America East regular-season champion, hosts UMass Lowell on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Bearcats Sports Complex.

The men's soccer Homecoming game will once again be preceded by the annual tailgate, which will be held from 3-6 p.m. in the Events Center parking lot. The Varsity Club will have a tent with food and drinks open to all former Binghamton athletes. In addition, there will be a tent sale in the Events Center from 3-5:30 p.m. with an assortment of Binghamton athletic gear available.

During the Homecoming Tailgate, the winner of the Third Annual Alumni Giving Challenge will be announced. The event, which began two weeks ago, runs through Sept. 30.  The goal of the Alumni Giving Challenge is to increase participation among former Binghamton student-athletes who contributed to the Athletics Department.
