Women’s Basketball Loses 95-66 at Maine

Moon nets 15 points, Carmody records second straight double-double

BANGOR, Maine – Blanca Millan scored a game-high 29 points, powering Maine (13-7, 6-1 AE) to an 83-54 win over Binghamton (8-12, 3-4 AE) in an America East women's basketball game on Sunday afternoon at Cross Insurance Center.

Millan, who entered the game leading the America East with 17.4 points per game, went 11-for-17 from the floor and was a perfect 5-for-5 from the line. She got plenty of help as the Black Bears shot 48.6 percent from the field (35-72) during the game.

Junior guard Kai Moon led the Bearcats with 15 points, hitting three of her seven three-point field goal attempts in the process. Senior forward Rebecca Carmody notched her second straight double-double, finishing with 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

After falling behind 14-4, Binghamton clawed to within 31-27 on a jumper by Carmody with 2:51 left in the second period. From there, however, Maine closed out the half on a 10-5 run to go up 41-32 at the break. Millan had five of her points during that stretch.

In the third period, the floodgates opened up for the Black Bears, as they outscored Binghamton 35-18 to take a commanding 76-50 lead. Maine sank 10 of its 16 field goal attempts during that stretch and drained five of its six three-point field goal attempts.

The Black Bears maintained a lead of at least 26 points during the final period of the game.

Junior guard Carly Boland added 12 points and four assists while sophomore forward Olivia Ramil chipped in 10 points. Off the bench, sophomore forward Kaylee Wasco added eight points and three rebounds.

Parise Rossignol scored 15 points in the winning effort while Dor Saar had 11 points and nine assists. Tanesha Sutton, meanwhile, added 10 points.

Binghamton dished out 13 assists and turned the ball over just 11 times. It marked the second straight game that the Bearcats finished with a positive assist/turnover ratio.

From the free throw line, Binghamton converted 17 of its 21 attempts (81.0 percent).

The Bearcats return home to face first-place Hartford on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

NOTES: Carmody, who came into the game against Maine leading the America East with 7.8 rpg., now has 10 career double-doubles. She is the first Binghamton player to record back-to-back double-doubles since Alyssa James had three straight such performances from Feb. 14-22, 2018 … for her career, Carmody now has 933 points and remains No. 19 all-time in program history. Alicia Koppenhoefer (1994-98) is No. 18 with 954 career points.
