The Binghamton volleyball team dropped an America East matchup with Albany in three sets Friday evening. The Bearcats fell 25-10, 25-17, 25-17 and now sit at 0-4 in conference play.
On a night where the offense struggled,
Anna Sprys was a bright spot on the defensive side of things. She had five of the team's 13 blocks. She also had four kills as well.
Kim Lavender finished the night with 14 digs, which was higher than anyone on the court. Haworth had seven kills to lead the Bearcats.
The Great Danes (9-9 overall 5-0 America East) jumped out early in the first set, scoring ten straight points to take a 16-5 lead and grab control of the match before taking the frame 25-10.
The second set was closer, with the Bearcats clawing back from an early deficit to tie up the score at eight. Albany would take the lead and extend it at the end, scoring six of the final eight points to win 25-17.
A slow start in the final set buried Binghamton. Trailing 10-1, the team showed guts in a 15-9 run to make the score 19-16 before running out of steam.
The Bearcats will now head south to Baltimore for a Sunday afternoon match against UMBC. First serve is at 1 p.m.
