Albany comes in undefeated in America East play
The Great Danes had a strong non-conference slate, which has prepared them well for the rigors of America East action.
Albany sits at 4-0 in the conference, and are coming off a 3-0 sweep of a resurgent Hartford team. They have also earned two five-set wins at Stony Brook and UMBC this month.
Akuabata Okenwa leads the Great Danes with 210 kills on the season, followed by Chloe Evering (130) and Danielle Tedesco (120). Malea Stanton has 404 assists. Defensively, Tedesco and Noa Brach have been a force, with 66 and 64 blocks respectively.
UMBC looking for first America East win
The Retrievers sit at 0-4 in the conference, but have put together several tough matches. Those tough matches include five-set losses against Albany and New Hampshire, and a 3-0 loss to Stony Brook in which they scored over 20 points in every set.
Carmen Freeman leads the balanced UMBC attack with 190 kills, and is one of four players with over 100 on the year. Brooke Hayden also has 260 digs for a team who sits at 3-14, but has more digs than its opponents thus far this season.
