Bearcats take on Pioneers at 1 p.m., look to close out 2019 with win

The Binghamton University wrestling team will host Sacred Heart Friday afternoon in the West Gym. The dual marks the team's final matchup of 2019, as the Bearcats will look to head into the holidays on the right foot.

Binghamton enters the contest following its trip to the annual Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, which included many of the top wrestlers in the nation. Redshirt sophomore No. 6 Lou DePrez headlined the tournament, winning his first three bouts before falling to No. 1 Zahid Valencia en route to a sixth place finish. Senior Anthony Sparacio was the other Bearcat to make it to day two of the invite, and finished a win away from the podium.

The Pioneers are a familiar foe, having wrestled the Bearcats each of the last five seasons. Since 2000, Binghamton is 10-5 against Sacred Heart and have won eight straight entering Friday. Last season, the team won in dominating fashion, 34-7.
