Senior guard honored for third time this season, ranks second nationally in scoring

VESTAL, N.Y. – For the second straight week and third time this season, senior guard Kai Moon has been named the America East Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

In leading the Bearcats to two more wins last week, Moon averaged 24.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game. She poured in a game-high 28 points in the Bearcats' win over St. Bonaventure last Wednesday and followed up with a team-best 21 points against Eastern Michigan yesterday.

For the season, Moon ranks second in the nation with 24.3 points per game. She is also ninth with 3.75 three-point field goals per game and No. 43 with a .469 three-point field goal percentage.

Moon is the first Binghamton player to repeat as the America East Player of the Week since Imani Watkins was chosen on Dec. 26, 2017 and Jan. 2, 2018. In addition, she is just the third Binghamton player to be honored three times in a season, joining Watkins (2017-18) and Laine Kurpniece (2005-06).

Binghamton (8-0) is currently one of only 18 unbeaten NCAA Division I teams. The Bearcats are off to their second-best start in program history and are on their longest winning streak since the 2000-01 season.

The Bearcats travel to Cornell on Thursday for a 7 p.m. game.

NOTES: Moon is the fourth Binghamton player to have been named the Player of the Week three times during her career. She joins Watkins (five from 2014-18), Rachel Laws (four times from 2002-06) and Kurpniece (three times from 2004-08).
