Wrestling travels to Sacred Heart Friday

Bearcats look for fifth straight victory

VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton wrestling team travels to Sacred Heart Friday for a 6 p.m. EIWA matchup. The Bearcats look for their fifth straight EIWA and dual win in tonight's contest.

Of Note
  • The Bearcats are coming off back-to-back EIWA victories in Harvard (33-14) and Brown (19-15) for it's fourth straight win of the season.
  • Binghamton is now 4-3 and 4-1 EIWA
  • In the first NWCA Mid-Major poll of the season, Binghamton was ranked at No. 15. The EIWA led all conferences with seven teams ranked in the top 20 including three in the top five.  Army, Navy, Binghamton and American join Cornell, Princeton, and Lehigh in the top three.
  • 141-pounder Anthony Sparacio and 184-pounder Lou DePrez each have a six match win streak going, while 133-pounder Zack Trampe and 174-pounder Vincent DePrez each have a four match win streak under their belt.
  • Vincent DePrez recorded his first fall of the season over Harvard's Leo Tarantino at 2:54. The redshirt-senior now has 86 career wins.
  • Sparacio also notched his first bonus point wins of the season, with a major decision and a tech fall over Harvard and Brown, respectively.
  • Redshirt-freshman Lou DePrez currently sits as high as eighth in the national rankings, with a No. 9 ranking in the first of four NCAA coaches polls this season.
  • DePrez leads the team with a 6-0 dual record and 21-4 overall, recording nine bonus point wins, four coming in his last five matches.

  • The Bearcats have won it's past four meetings with the Pioneers, taking a 38-6 victory last season in the West Gym.
