Women’s Basketball Loses 63-50 at Hartford

Moon and Annie Ramil each score 12 points

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Lindsey Abed scored a game-high 15 points and Jade Young added 13 points, pacing Hartford (20-9, 13-2 AE) to a 63-50 win over Binghamton (12-16, 7-8 AE) in an America East women's basketball game on Wednesday night at Chase Arena. The loss snapped the Bearcats' three-game winning streak.

With one game left in the regular-season, the Bearcats are still in contention for the No. 5 seed in the upcoming America East Tournament. A win on Saturday at home against Maine or a loss by Vermont at Stony Brook will lock that up.

Against Hartford, senior guard Kai Moon and freshman Annie Ramil each finished with a team-best 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. It marked the first double-double of Ramil's career.

Junior guard Carly Boland netted 11 points while senior forward Rebecca Carmody had a game-high 12 rebounds to go along with seven assists, six points a block and a steal.

Hartford took control of the game in the first quarter as it took an 18-7 lead. Abed had five of her points during that stretch and the Bearcats turned the ball over 10 times – which led to six of the Hawks' points.

Binghamton pulled to within 30-24 as Olivia Ramil made a free throw with 7:31 left in the third period. From there, however, Hartford went on a 16-6 run to take a 46-30 lead heading into the fourth period. Abed nailed a pair of three-point shots and scored eight of her points during that span.

The Hawks maintain a double-digit lead throughout the fourth period.

Olivia Ramil finished with nine points. Boland also added four assists and a game-high four steals.

Sierra DaCosta chipped in 10 points in the winning effort for Hartford.

Binghamton turned the ball over 27 times, which led to 22 of the Hawks' points. Hartford also scored 36 of their points in the paint and 15 points on fast breaks.

The Bearcats' game on Saturday against Maine starts at noon and will be preceded by their annual Senior Day ceremony. Carmody, Corrinne Godshall and Kennedi Thompson will be recognized.
