TEAM CAPSULES
- Binghamton (3-1) took three out of four games at the season-opening CSUN Early Bird Classic on Feb. 15-17. Sophomore shortstop
Makayla Alvarez hit two home runs, drove in six runs and was named the America East Player of the Week. Junior pitcher
Rayn Gibson was the America East Pitcher of the Week and freshman shortstop
Marissa Braito was chosen as the conference's top rookie.
- Troy (12-5) took three out of five games at the Auburn Tiger Invitational on Feb. 22-24. Bailey Taylor leads the squad with three home runs and 21 RBI so far this season. On the mound, Leanna Johnson is 7-1 with a 1.67 ERA.
- Iowa (8-6) swept all five of its games at the Diamond 9 Citrus Classic in Orlando on Feb. 22-24. Donirae Mayhew leads the Hawkeyes with a .385 batting average, two home runs and eight RBI. Allison Doocy is tops on the pitcher staff with a 6-2 record and a 1.69 ERA.
- Bethune Cookman (4-11) went 1-4 at the Mary Nutter Classic, which was held in Cathedral City, Calif. Feb. 21-23. The Wildcats faced three nationally-ranked teams at that tournament. Kaiya Epps-Lee leads the team with a .333 batting average and eight RBI.
- Western Michigan (0-5) has been off since its season-opening tournament at the Kajikawa Classic Feb. 8-10. Mackenzie Swinehart batted a team-best .529 during those games.
Incarnate Word (0-10) dropped all five of its games at the Houston Challenge on Feb. 22-24. Jenna Bleberg is batting a team-best .273 so far this year.
