BANGOR, Maine – Senior guard
J.C. Show drilled a record 10 3-pointers to pace Binghamton basketball (9-21, 5-10 America East) to an 83-60 road win at Maine (5-25, 3-12 AE) Saturday afternoon at Cross Insurance Center. The team's third straight road win completed a BU season sweep of the Black Bears and locked up the No. 7 seed for the upcoming America East tournament.Â
Show hit 10-of-14 from beyond the arc, including 7-of-7 perfection in the second half, to stand alone in the Binghamton record books. He previously shared the record of eight 3-pointers with freshman teammate
Sam Sessoms and two others. He wound up with 30 points and the Bearcats set a new team mark with 19 3-pointers in the lopsided win.
Senior forward
Caleb Stewart contributed his fourth double-double of the season with 23 points and 10 rebounds and Sessoms added 13 second-half points.Â
Binghamton led 59-51 with 7:48 left before using a 16-4 run to stretch its lead to 20 points. Sessoms had eight points and Show six during the key run, which gave BU a 75-55 lead. The only drama that remained was whether Show could get the record. He hit his record-breaking ninth 3-pointer of the game with 1:18 to go and then cashed in his 10th with 0:45 left to complete the scoring.Â

The Bearcats trailed 11-7 with 12:45 left in the first half before embarking on a 15-0 run that gave them a 22-12 lead with 8:50 remaining. Binghamton hit four 3-pointers during the run, with Stewart accounting for a pair. The Bearcats hit eight treys and built an 11-point cushion before Maine scored the final seven points of the half to trim its deficit to four, 33-29 heading into the break. Stewart scored 13 points in the period and Show added nine points.
Binghamton wraps up the regular season Tuesday night when BU hosts longtime SUNY rival Albany.
