VESTAL, N.Y. – Visiting UMass Lowell (20-12, 8-0 AE) clubbed three home runs on its way to a 6-3 win over Binghamton (14-21, 3-8 AE) in an America East softball game on Sunday morning at the Bearcats Sports Complex softball facility. With the victory, the River Hawks sweep the three-game series and remain in sole possession of first place in the conference.

The River Hawks, however, used the long ball to blow open the game. Casey Harding opened the scoring with a three-run home run in the top of the second inning. The River Hawks added a run later in the frame and three innings later, Maria Moccio belted a solo home run, stretching their lead to 5-0.

The Bearcats came back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Sophomore outfielder Lauren Martinez scored on a fielding error and Germano singled home Braito.

Germano trimmed the deficit to 6-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning with her second RBI single of the game. The Bearcats, however, left the tying run at the plate when the game ended.
