Softball Loses 14-0 to Syracuse

Orange pound out 12 hits in five-inning win

VESTAL, N.Y. – Neli Casares-Maher homered twice and drove in six runs, powering Syracuse (20-25) to a 14-0 win over Binghamton (15-25) in a non-conference softball game on Tuesday afternoon at the Bearcats Sports Complex Softball Facility. The Orange was able to finish off the game in five innings.
 
Casares-Maher's home runs both came with a pair of runners on base. She smacked her first homer in the top of the third inning, putting Syracuse up 7-0. One inning later, her second three-run shot padded the lead to 12-0.
 
On the mound, Miranda Hearn tossed a three-hit shutout, improving her record to 2-6. The loss was tagged to junior pitcher Rozlyn Price, who is now 3-7.
 
Binghamton heads to Albany on Wednesday for a 3 p.m. America East Conference game.
