Men’s Lacrosse Defeats UMass Lowell 9-7

Kevin Winkoff leads the team with 4 goals, Konen finishes with 5 points

LOWELL, MA. - The Binghamton men's lacrosse team finished the season on a high after taking a 9-7 victory over UMass Lowell Friday night at Cushing Field Complex. Freshman Kevin Winkoff and senior Griffin Konen led the Bearcats with seven goals between the two, each finishing with five points in the game.

"I'm really proud of our team," head coach Kevin McKeown said. "We showed no quit and sent our seniors off in great fashion. It was a total team win tonight against a talented and well coached UMass Lowell team."

Highlights
  • Konen led the game off at 10:42 in the first quarter off an assist from Jackson Rieger.
  • UMass Lowell scored three straight to take a 3-1 lead into the second quarter.
  • Binghamton outscored UMass Lowell 5-0 in the second quarter. Rieger led things off with an unassisted goal just forty seconds in before K. Winkoff secured a hat-trick with three consecutive goals. Timothy Mattiace closed out the first half of scoring with his first goal of the season.
  • Konen notched his second goal of the game early in the third to put the Bearcats up 7-3 heading into the fourth quarter.
  • Konen and Winkoff each added one more in the fourth to seal the 9-7 victory.
  • Kevin Carbone made nine saves between the pipes to earn his second win of the season in goal.
  • The Bearcats combined for 14 caused turnovers in the game, Kyle Tiernan leading the effort with three.
