LEWISBURG, Pa. - In a game that featured four lead changes, host Bucknell (9-21) made the final move with a three-run sixth inning that propelled them to a 6-4 win over visiting Binghamton baseball (10-12) Wednesday afternoon at Depew Field.
The Bearcats took their last lead with two runs in the top of the fifth inning before Bucknell countered with the decisive runs one frame later - all plated with two outs. A two-run triple and squeeze bunt accounted for the damage. Earlier, Binghamton had jumped out to a quick lead with two runs in the first. Bucknell got one run back in its half of the first and then forged ahead 3-2 with two runs in the second before BU countered in the fifth. Â
Binghamton was outhit 10-7 and kept off the board in all but two innings. The Bearcats brought the tying run to the plate in both the seventh and ninth innings but couldn't capitalize.
Senior right fielder
Sean Trenholm continued his torrid hitting with two more RBI. Trenholm delivered a two-out RBI single in the first inning and a sacrifice fly in the fifth. He now has nine RBI in his last three games and lifted his season batting average to .373.
Sophomore center fielder
Shane Marshall hit an RBI triple in the fifth inning as BU turned a 3-2 deficit into a 4-3 lead.Â
Freshman third baseman
Zachary Taylor accounted for BU's other run with a two-out RBI single in the first inning. Freshman second baseman
Cavan Tully (2-for-4) was the lone Bearcat with two hits.
Sophomore starter
Luke Dziados allowed just one earned run in 3.1 innings. Freshman
Dom DiRado struck out half the batters he faced (3 of 6) in 1.1 innings of relief.Â
