The Binghamton volleyball team dropped a tough contest in straight sets to Siena Wednesday evening in Vestal. The Bearcats led most of the way through the first set, but fell late and were defeated two frames later.
Audrey Haworth led the way with 10 kills, followed by eight by
Victoria Keghlian and
Tyra Wilson. Wilson held an impressive .467 hitting percentage.
Ally-Reese Williams had 13 kills and nine digs to lead the Saints.
The Bearcats started the match strong, taking a 6-2 lead before a four-point run by Siena to even things up at six. The remainder of the set went back-and-forth, with Binghamton leading for a majority of the action. Leading 22-19, Binghamton relinquished five straight points and eventually fell by a count of 25-23.
The Bearcats played from behind over the final two sets and were unable to take a lead, though nearly forced a fourth set at the end. A kill by Wilson tied the final set up at 23, but Siena scored two straight points to come away victorious.
The Bearcats have over a week to regroup and now look forward to America East play beginning October 4 against Hartford in Vestal.
