Women's Basketball Hosts Hartford to Open 2021

Bearcats host Hawks at 3 p.m. on Saturday, 2 p.m. on Sunday

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (1-5, 1-3 AE) split its two-game series against UMBC at home this past weekend.  The Bearcats dropped the opener 57-54 on Sunday but bounced back to take Monday's contest 65-60. Sophomore guard Denai Bowman scored a game-high 18 points on Sunday and sophomore forward Birna Benonysdottir poured in a game-high and career-high 22 points on Monday.

- Bowman ranks third in the America East in scoring (13.5 ppg.), fifth in field goal percentage (.422), is tied for sixth in assists (2.8) and is tied for seventh in blocks. Senior forward Kaylee Wasco is tied for sixth in scoring (12.2 ppg.) while Benonysdottir is also tied for seventh in blocks.

- Hartford (2-2, 2-2 AE) swept a pair of games against visiting New Hampshire earlier this week. The Hawks won 53-50 on Monday and 64-57 the following day. Charlette Leurs led all scorers with 19 points in the first game while Jada Lucas had a team-best 14 points in the finale.

- Leurs leads the Hawks with 8.8 points per game, leads the America East with 2.2 blocks per game and is third in the conference with 8.4 rebounds per night. Nina Farkic is fourth in the conference with 3.4 assists per game. As a team, Hartford leads the America East in rebounding (41.8 rpg.) and blocks (4.4 bpg.).

- Hartford leads the all-time series 29-12 but the Bearcats swept both games last season, winning 80-44 at the Events Center on Jan. 29 as well as 78-65 at Hartford on Feb. 22. Bowman averaged 13.0 points in the pair of contests as well as 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals.

- In the Bearcats' four America East games so far this season, Bowman is averaging 12.5 points per game followed by Wasco (11.3 ppg.) and Benonysdottir (10.8 ppg.)
