AMHERST, N.Y. - The Binghamton University wrestling team fell at the hands of Buffalo Friday evening by a score of 20-15. Despite winning five of ten bouts on the night, bonus points in the favor of the Bulls hurt the Bearcats in the team's dual season finale.
Highlights
- To kick things off, Tomasso Frezza recovered from a near fall in the second period to pick up his first career dual victory over Jordan Reyes. Besides the four swipes, Frezza dominated the matchup, taking an early 4-1 lead and finishing with a takedown in the final 30 seconds to win it.
- At 141 pounds, senior Anthony Sparacio picked up an early two on a takedown and was able to fend off Buffalo's Marcus Robinson to pick up the 3-2 decision.
- Following losses in the next three bouts, Aidan Monteverdi made his return to the lineup with a strong 4-2 decision over Bryson Alsteen. Monteverdi was able to capitalize on early shots and kept Alsteen at bay offensively.
- No. 5 Lou DePrez picked up yet another dual victory to improve his season record to 22-5. Following an offensive first period and a single escape point in the second, DePrez added another takedown in the third to seal the victory.
- After a close loss at 197 pounds, Joe Doyle finished off the match with a 3-0 decision. He got a takedown in the first, and added an escape point in the second to round out his scoring.
