GENEVA, N.Y. - The Binghamton men's lacrosse team (1-5) fell 16-9 Saturday afternoon to Hobart (4-1). Freshman
Thomas Greenblatt finished the game with three goals and one assist while
Teddy Dolan had 12 saves in the net.
"
I thought in some ways we took a step forward today, but we ran out of gas in the 4th quarter against a very good Hobart team," head coach Kevin McKeown said. "There were too many turnovers on our end and they certainly tilted the groundball battle their way in the 4th quarter. We'll learn and rest up for another tough test next weekend."
The Bearcats started the game off strong, scoring the first two goals of the game. Greenblatt scored his first goal of the game before assisting
Ryan McBeth to take a 2-0 Binghamton lead. Hobart scored the next three goals, but the Bearcats responded, as MacKinney and Greenblatt secured a 4-3 lead after the first quarter. Hobart outscored Binghamton 5-2 in the second, taking an 8-6 lead into the half.
The Bearcats and the Statesmen played an even third quarter, each scoring two goals. Leading 10-8 heading into the final quarter, Hobart went on a 6-1 run to close out the contest.
The Bearcats are back in action on Saturday, Mar. 14 as they travel to Drexel to face the Dragons for a 1 p.m. face-off.
