Box Score DURHAM, N.H. - The Binghamton volleyball team fell to New Hampshire in four sets Saturday evening to cap off the 2021 season. Despite all four frames being close, the Bearcats dropped a 19-25, 25-21, 20-25, 17-25.
Stefana Stan led the way offensively for Binghamton, notching 15 kills. Anna Sprys had eight kills and nine blocks. Settter Emma Rainville had 14 digs and 14 assists. Four Bearcats had at least 10 digs (Rainville, Rail-13, Bart -10, Stan -10).
The first set was led by Binghamton early, but an 8-1 Wildcat run gave the hosts a 9-5 advantage. A Stan kill would tie the frame up at 17, but another extended run by the hosts put away the set, 25-19.
BU rallied to take the second set, with New Hampshire's largest lead being two points for the entirety of the period. Binghamton used a huge 9-0 run to take control, capped by another Stan kill. The Wildcats trimmed the deficit to three late, before the Bearcats buried them with three of the frame's final four points.
The third set was tight throughout, with UNH taking an early lead before Binghamton used a 9-2 run to take a 13-10 lead. The final tie score of the set was at 15, but New Hampshire would get the next point to take the lead for good. Sydney Aguirre brought BU to within 20-19 with a service ace, but UNH scored five of the final six points to win, 25-20.
The fourth set was also close, but UNH ran away with it at the end with a 7-0 run. Binghamton finishes the season with a 7-17 overall record, and a 3-9 record in America East play.
