VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton wrestling team returns to the Events Center for its first home dual of the season Sunday morning. The Bearcats play host to Stanford in just its second ever meeting with the Cardinal.

The Bearcats return after a successful Jonathan Kaloust Bearcat Open, which featured two individual champions in Lou DePrez (197 pounds) and Brevin Cassella (165 pounds).

Other individual placers were Nick Lombard (149 pounds, second place), Sam DePrez (197 pounds, third place), Jacob Nolan (174 pounds, third place) and Micah Roes (125 pounds, sixth place).

Four Bearcats have been featured in the national rankings. In his first ranking at the 197-pound weight class, Lou DePrez sits at No. 13. He went 5-0 last weekend with a tech fall.

Jacob Nolan has been strong out of the gates, compiling a 7-1 record, with his only loss coming to No. 9 Chris Foca (Cornell) by decision. He is now ranked No. 27 by InterMat.

In limited bouts, Joe Doyle has posted a 1-1 record with a pin. The No. 30 nationally ranked heavyweight's only loss was by injury default.

Anthony Sobotker came out hot early, getting three pins in three matches at the Rutgers quad meet. He continued his streak at home, getting two falls in his two victories, but also suffered two setbacks. He received an honorable mention by Flo in this weeks' rankings.

BU has taken on Stanford once in program history, and Binghamton prevailed 22-13 in 2010.

Stanford fell to No. 4 Oklahoma State in its first dual of the season by a score of 29-7.

In the loss, The Cardinal had wins by Jaden Abas (149) and Shane Griffith (165). Abas notched a 15-6 major decision over Kaden Gfeller. No. 1 Griffith won by decision over #6 Travis Wittlake (4-0).

Five members of Stanford have been featured in the national rankings. No. 32 Jackson DiSario (133), No. 8 Abas (149), No. 1 Griffith (165), No. 30 Tyler Eischens (174) and No. 26 Nick Stemmet (197) all have received national recognition.

Stanford returns five NCAA qualifiers, led by Griffith, a 2021 National Champion at 165 pounds.

Abas was an All-American a year ago placing seventh.
