VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton wrestling team will hit the road for a dual with Sacred Heart Saturday, before heading to Florida for the Collegiate Wrestling Duals. The Bearcats are coming off a 29-12 victory over Edinboro, in which seven of ten won their bouts.

Notes

• The Bearcats are coming off a dual split with North Dakota State and Edinboro last weekend. The Bearcats fell to North Dakota State 27-12 before prevailing against Edinboro 29-12.

• Three members of BU went 2-0 last weekend. No. 22 Joe Doyle won by decision against a ranked opponent (No. 21 Brandon Metz) and a major decision. No. 12 Lou DePrez also won by decision against a ranked opponent (No. 17 Owen Pentz) and won by injury default. Nick Lombard had major decision and decision victories. 

• The Bearcats won seven of 10 bouts in their final match last Friday, with Anthony Sobotker, Logan Gumble, Brevin Cassella and Jacob Nolan adding wins (alongside the aforementioned Doyle, DePrez and Lombard).

• Doyle took a big leap in the national rankings this week, jumping from No. 29 to No. 22 in the country in InterMat's poll.

• The last time the Bearcats took on Sacred Heart, BU prevailed 25-9 (2019). Binghamton leads the all-time series 11-5 and have won nine straight matchups with the Pioneers.

About the Pioneers

• Sacred Heart is 1-1 on the season. They defeated American 17-16 before falling to No. 2 Penn State 47-3.

• Nick Palumbo is a returning national qualifier for Sacred Heart. He is 2-0 in duals this season, including an 8-3 decision over Penn State's Joey Blumer. 

• Veteran 184-pounder Joe Accousti has been a stable veteran presence for the Pioneers. He has over 50 career wins, and was a national qualifier in the spring.

• Freshman heavyweight Nick Copley leads Sacred Heart with seven wins. He represented the 285-pound spot at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invite two weeks ago.

• Dante Del Bonis has dropped down to 197 pounds this season, and has a 3-3 record.

The Bearcats will return to action just two days after Saturday's dual for The Collegiate Wrestling Duals. They will take on No. 10 Missouri and No. 6 NC State on Monday. They will continue Monday for one final match to determine placement.
