Softball Heads to Hartford for AE Series

Three-game set includes 1 p.m. DH on Friday, noon game on Saturday

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (9-13, 4-10 AE) split a four-game series against UMass Lowell last weekend. Junior outfielder Chloe Morgan and junior designated player Sophia Pappas each finished the series with a team-best .500 batting average. Senior shortstop Makayla Alvarez, meanwhile, hit .467 with three doubles, a home run and three RBI.

- Hartford (5-11, 3-11 AE) dropped two out of three games against UMass Lowell at home this past Tuesday and Wednesday. Danielle Rocheleau leads the America East with a .440 batting average. She has also homered twice and driven in nine runs.

- Binghamton leads the all-time series against Hartford 37-17. Most recently the Bearcats won a 5-3 elimination game in the second round of the 2019 America East Tournament. That event was held at Hartford.

- For the season, Alvarez is batting a team-best .353 and carries a career-high eight-game hitting streak into the series at Hartford. She also has homered three times and driven in 10 runs.

- The Bearcats enter the weekend against Hartford with a 3.27 ERA – its lowest since the 2017 season. Freshman pitcher Allison L'Amoureaux – the current America East Rookie of the Week – leads the pitching staff with a 1.62 ERA followed by fellow freshman Hannah Mearns with a 2.18 ERA.

- Senior pitcher Rayn Gibson has 310 career strikeouts. She is currently tied with Rhoda Marsteller (2010-13) for seventh place all time in Binghamton program history. In sixth place, with 318 strikeouts, is Katie Hansen (2003-06).
