Athletic Department Ready for Homecoming Weekend

Tailgate, Hall of Fame Ceremony and three fall home events highlight schedule

VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton athletics department has a full slate of activities for Homecoming Weekend, which takes place this Friday-Sunday. Among the key events are the annual Hall of Fame Ceremony, three fall teams hosting home contests and the pregame tailgate prior to Saturday's men's soccer match.

The Bearcat fall squads enter Homecoming Weekend on a roll. The volleyball team, which is 10-4, hosts defending America East champion UMBC on Friday at 7 p.m. at the West Gym. The men's soccer team, which is unbeaten in its last three matches (2-0-1), hosts Albany at 6 p.m. on Saturday. The men's soccer match will be preceded by the annual Homecoming Tailgate in the Events Center Parking Lot. On Sunday, the women's soccer team, which is in first place in the conference, hosts New Hampshire at 1 p.m.

The athletics department is also holding its annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Events Center. This year's honorees include women's basketball great Andrea Holmes '12, wrestling All-American Donnie Vinson '12, tennis champion Sven Vloedgraven '11, longtime broadcaster and master of ceremonies Roger Neel and the record-setting 1994-95 men's tennis team. 

Other Binghamton teams with home events on Homecoming Weekend include the swimming & diving program, which will hold its annual Green-White Meet on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the West Gym Pool, and the softball team, which hosts Siena in a noon doubleheader.
