Women’s Basketball Heads to Syracuse

Bearcats and Orange Tip Off Monday at 7 p.m.

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (2-0) defeated Army 76-61 at home on Thursday night. Senior guard Denai Bowman netted a team-best 17 points while senior forward Clare Traeger turned in a 14-point, 15-rebound performance. Redshirt freshman guards Jadyn Weltz and Ella Wanzer, meanwhile, each added 15 points in the win.

- Traeger leads the Bearcats and ranks No. 12 in the America East with 15.0 points per game. She is also second in the conference with 10.5 rebounds per contest. Bowman and Weltz are each averaging 12.5 points per game. Bowman also leads the America East with 3.5 blocks per game and is second with 3.5 steals per game. Weltz is tied for second in the conference with 5.0 assists per contest.

- Syracuse (2-0) beat Colgate 72-48 at home on Thursday evening. Alaina Rice led a balanced attack with 16 points. Dariauna Lewis finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds while Dyaisha Fair and Saniaa Wilson each chipped in 10 points.

- Fair leads the Orange with 14.0 points per game while Lewis is averaging 13.5 points and 13.0 rebounds per contest. Teisha Hyman and Rice, meanwhile, are each averaging 10.0 points per contest.

- Binghamton and Syracuse meet for the first time since 2012. The Orange holds a 7-1 lead in the all-time series, having won the past four meetings. The Bearcats' lone win in the series was a 74-52 triumph on Dec. 17, 2015 on the road.

- Syracuse is the third opponent from the ACC that Binghamton will face off against during its 21-year NCAA Division I era. The Bearcats have also played Miami and Notre Dame. The Orange joined the ACC in 2013.

- Weltz has scored 10 and 15 points respectively in her first two career games at Binghamton. She is the first Bearcat player to reach double figures in each of her first two games since Imani Watkins in 2014.
