VESTAL, N.Y. - Junior forward
Armon Harried posted a double-double and Binghamton men's basketball (4-7) shot 51 percent to roar past visiting SUNY Oneonta 86-58 Saturday afternoon at Dr. Bai Lee Court at the Events Center.Â
Harried tallied team-highs of 12 points and 14 rebounds (tied a career high) to lead a balanced BU attack. Sophomore guard
Matt Solomon (12 pts.) and junior center
Tariq Balogun (10 pts.) also reached double figures, but Harried looked to be playing at a different speed than others on the floor as he also recorded three assists, three steals, three blocks and was a plus 31 for the game.
"We are happy to get a win," head coach
Levell Sanders said. "It was good to be able to get a few guys playing ... and to get Armon going. His energy and the way he was flying around, blocking shots, pushing the ball up the floor ... it was a welcome sight after missing time. We still have some work to do but I'm happy to get back in the win column."
The Bearcats had dropped five straight and after Saturday's game, now have just two more games before America East play begins on Dec. 31.Â
Binghamton jumped out to a 12-2 lead and after the Division III Red Dragons briefly trimmed their deficit to three, 15-12, BU stretched it again before intermission. Five different guys had five or more points and the Bearcats ran to a 41-27 halftime cushion. Â
In the second half, BU held Oneonta to 32 percent shooting and again were plus 14 on the scoreboard.Â
