- Binghamton opens its 21st season as a NCAA Division I program and also as a member of the America East Conference. The Bearcats return three second-team all-conference selections from its 2021 squad that finished 11-14 (6-11 AE). They include senior infielders
Marissa Braito and
Makayla Alvarez as well as senior utility player
Sophia Pappas. Binghamton has been picked to finish fourth in this year's America East Preseason Poll.
-
Jess Bump – a 2014 Binghamton alum – begins her first season as the head coach of the Bearcats. She was the acting coach for the first four games of the 2021 campaign when then head coach Michelle Johnston was on maternity leave.
- Radford finished the 2021 season 22-32 with an 11-10 record in the Big South Conference. Binghamton is 3-3 all-time against Radford but the two programs have not met since 2013.
- Georgia Southern went 17-26 in 2021, including 9-14 in the Sun Belt Conference. The Eagles lead the all-time series against the Bearcats 3-2. The two teams last met at the 2020 Auburn Tiger Invitational and split a pair of games. Georgia Southern won 8-2 on Feb. 28 but Binghamton came back with a 2-1 victory the following day.
