Bearcats lose 8-0 to host Terps, beat Monmouth 6-3

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Junior catcher Quinn DeCicco hit a grand slam and sophomore pitcher Allison L'Amoreaux won her third straight decision, highlighting Binghamton's performance at the second day of the Maryland Invitational on Saturday. The Bearcats (10-10) lost 8-0 in five innings to the host Terps (12-14) but bounced back with a 6-3 win over Monmouth (3-19).

DeCicco, who finished the day 2-for-5 (.400), belted her grand slam in the top of the third inning in the win over Monmouth. She is the first Bearcat player to hit a grand slam since Rozlyn Price against Stony Brook on April 14, 2018.

L'Amoreaux, meanwhile, went the full seven innings against the Hawks to raise her record to 7-5. In addition to striking out seven batters on the mound, she had an RBI on a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning.

Senior infielder Alli Richmond finished the day 3-for-6 (.500) and now has a career-high, five-game hitting streak. She also has a team-high nine multiple-hit games so far this season.

Fellow senior infielder Makayla Alvarez was 3-for-5 (.600) during the two games.

With the Bearcats down 1-0 in the top of the third inning against Monmouth, senior designated player Sophia Pappas deadlocked the game at 1-1 with a double. Three batters later, DeCicco clubbed her game-changing grand slam.

Monmouth came back with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on a two-run single by Riley Randeau. L'Amoreaux's sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning, however, gave her some breathing room in the bottom of the inning, when she set the Hawks down in order.

Earlier in the day, Haley Ellefon fired a four-hit shutout for the Terps as the Bearcats were shut out for the first time this season. She was backed up by an offense that pounded out 12 hits.

Binghamton faces Army at 12:30 p.m. in its final game at the Maryland Tournament.
