Men's Lacrosse Hosts UMBC Saturday afternoon

Game set for 1 p.m. at Bearcats Sports Complex

Binghamton men's lacrosse (3-4, 1-0 AE) is back at home on Saturday, March 26 at 1 p.m. to take on UMBC (2-3, 0-0 AE). The Bearcats are looking to improve to 2-0 in the conference after a 18-10 road victory at UAlbany on March 19.
 

Notes

  • Kevin Winkoff continues to lead BU offensively, his 12 point performance last week against Fairfield and Albany was good enough to earn him America East Offensive Player of the Week honors. Winkoff's 18 goals and 12 assists are a team high for the Bearcats.

  • Senior attacker Daniel MacKinney has been another big scoring threat for the Bearcats, being the only other Bearcat besides Winkoff to score in every game for the Bearcats this season. MacKinney scored a season high five goals in the win against Albany.

  • Senior defensemen Max Verch has recently been a big boost to the Bearcats defense with five caused turnovers in the last two games, he has seven caused turnovers on the season.

  • Junior Matthew Desouza, leads BU at the faceoff position. Desouza has a .625 faceoff win percentage which is good enough to be tied for first in the America East.


Scouting UMBC

  • UMBC ranks second in the America East in Shot Percentage with 52 goals on 175 shots netting them a .297 shot percentage.

  • Senior attacker Brett Baucia and junior attacker Mike Doughty lead the team in goals with eight.

  • The Retrievers are battle tested with both of their wins coming against nationally ranked opponents, No. 19 Drexel and No. 20 Utah. 

Series History
  • In 24 all-time matchups, UMBC leads the all-time series 17-7. Last season, the teams split both games each win coming by one goal.
