VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton softball program will be the host school for the America East Tournament this season. The four-day, double-elimination event is set to run May 11-14.
This marks the fifth time since 2013 that Binghamton will host the America East Softball Tournament. The Bearcats Sports Complex has been the site of the championship event in 2013, 2016, 2017 and 2018. Binghamton was also slated to host the event in 2020 before the season was halted that March 12 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We are thrilled that the America East has given us the opportunity to host the America East Softball Championship this spring," head coach Jessica Bump said. "Our staff works very hard to make sure our venue is top notch and both the Binghamton campus and Greater Binghamton community provide student-athletes and coaches with a great experience and championship feel."
Since 2016, the America East Softball Tournament has included the top six teams – with the exception of last year when the field was reduced to the top four squads due to COVID-19 protocols. The top two teams in the six-team format earn a bye in the first day of competition.
The Bearcats Sports Complex first opened on March 30, 2013 and since then, Binghamton has gone 55-35 (.611) on its home field.
