Softball Travels to Albany

Bearcats and Great Danes to play 2 p.m. DH on Wednesday

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (14-14, 1-1 AE) split a doubleheader at UMass Lowell this past weekend, losing the opener 5-0 before taking the nightcap 2-1 in 10 innings. Senior pitcher Sophia Pappas tossed 7.1 scoreless innings, struck out eight batters and drove in the game-winning run in the second game. Freshman outfielder Alayna Harbaugh was 2-for-5 (.400), scored twice, drew a pair of walks and was hit by a pitch - giving her a .625 on-base percentage against the River Hawks.

- Harbaugh ranks fifth in the America East with a .372 batting average, is first with 14 stolen bases, is third in on-base percentage (.455) and second with 13 walks. Senior infielder Alli Richmond is batting .319, is tied for first in the conference with 12 doubles, is No. 10 with 15 RBI and is tied for fourth in the nation with 0.43 doubles per game. 

- Other offensive leaders for Binghamton include junior catcher Quinn DeCicco, who is No. 12 in th America East in batting (.333), freshman outfielder Sarah Rende, who is tied for sixth with 19 runs and senior infielder Makayla Alvarez, who is tied for ninth with seven doubles.

- Albany (14-11, 3-2 AE) swept a doubleheader against Maine this past weekend, winning by scores of 5-1 and 8-5. Maddie Petrella ranks eighth in the America East with a .361 batting average followed by Morgan Petty in ninth place (.357). 

- Albany leads the all-time series against Binghamton 49-14. Last year, however, the two teams split a four-game series at the Bearcats Sports Complex April 3-4. The Great Danes won the first two games 11-2 and 6-2 before the Beracats bounced back with 4-2 and 3-2 victories. DeCicco belted a walk off home run in the first Bearcat win.
