VESTAL, NY– Binghamton men's lacrosse (4-6, 2-1 AE) came up short against America East foe Stony Brook (8-4, 3-1 AE). After BU struck first in the opening quarter, Stony Brook scored seven straight goals over the span of four quarters to take a 7-1 lead with 13:15 left in the fourth period. Throughout the game Binghamton could not clear the ball and were unable to win a few faceoffs.
"I don't think we ever found our rhythm across the board especially offensively until the fourth quarter," said Head Coach Kevin McKeown.
The Bearcats ended the scoring run with 11:25 left in the fourth quarter when graduate student Justin Roderka found the back of the net off of a pass from Thomas Greenblatt. Junior Quinn O'Hara followed Roderka's goal with 8:53 left in the period to finish the scoring in the game.
"I felt in the fourth quarter we were able to turn things around a little bit. The offense got the ball moving, things were happening more efficiently for us and we created some good opportunities," said McKeown.
In the net, redshirt junior Teddy Dolan had a career day, setting a program record for saves in a game with 20. Dolan broke the record in the fourth period after coming back in the net and saving a shot with 2:44 left in the game. The previous record was held by three Bearcats including Dolan who each had 19 saves.
The Bearcats will have a quick turnaround on Tuesday when they travel to NJIT for a 11:30 A.M. start.
