Softball Opens AE Play at UMass Lowell

UPDATE: Game 1 suspended in B5th, play will pick up on Sunday at noon

STORY LINES

- Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled to start at noon, as is Sunday's single game.

- Binghamton (13-13, 0-0 AE) split a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday at Colgate, winning 2-0 in the opener before falling 8-0 in the nightcap. Graduate student pitcher Chelsea Howard fired a three-hit shutout in the opener while freshman outfield Alayna Harbaugh finished the day 3-for-5 (.500) and junior infielder Alex Musial was 2-for-5 (.400). Senior infielder Alli Richmond, meanwhile, homered and drove in her team-best 14th run of the year.

- Harbaugh leads the team and ranks seventh in the America East with a .370 batting average. She is also first in the conference with 13 stolen bases and fourth with a .441 on-base percentage. Richmond is second in the conference with 11 doubles. Junior catcher Quinn DeCicco, meanwhile, is 10th in batting with a .359 average.

- UMass Lowell (18-11, 3-0 AE) swept Hartford in its opening conference series of the season this past weekend. Cayla Tulley is tied for second in the America East with five home runs and is tied for fourth with 21 RBI.

- UMass Lowell leads the all-time series with Binghamton 13-9. Last season, the two teams split the four games played at the Bearcats Sports Complex May 1-2.
