BALTIMORE, Md. (BUBearcats.com) - The Binghamton University volleyball team (11-8, 3-0) will close out a three-game road stand with an America East contest at UMBC (9-6, 3-1), Thursday, Oct. 19. Match time is scheduled for 5 p.m.

BU is currently on a five game winning streak and sits atop the conference standing with a perfect 4-0 record after seven weeks of competition. Binghamton already owns a victory against every America East ahead of its match-up with UMBC.
Last time out, BU recorded a 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-20) sweep of UAlbany Sunday night on the road, the Bearcats dominated the shat sheet, owning a 12-4 lead in blocks and a 10-5 advantage from the service line. Binghamton held its opponent to just a .169 hitting percentage while recording a .280 clip as a team.
As the Bearcats reach the middle of their conference schedule, Binghamton leads the America East with a .229 team hitting percentage. BU dominates the conference standing with 173 blocks at 2.44 per set. The team also holds the top spot in opponent blocks with just 1.52 avg/s.
With 34 kills, 20 digs, .294 hitting percentage, nine blocks in two wins for Binghamton last week, Tsvetelina Ilieva earned her third consecutive, and fourth overall, Player of the Week designation of the 2023 season Tuesday morning.
The outside hitter currently leads America East in kills with 308 total for an average of 4.34 per set and points with 360 for a 5.07 set average. Ilieva ranks thirteenth nationally in points, fifteenth in total kills and points per set as well as seventeenth in kills per set
Lottie Scully took home back-to-back Setter of the Week wins as well, registering 72 assists, 22 digs, six blocks, five kills, a .400 hitting percentage and three aces for the Bearcats last week. The sophomore earned her fifth double-double of the season with 43 assists and 15 digs in BU's win over LIU, while adding three kills at a .600 clip.
UMBC owns a 23-19 series lead over Binghamton. Yet, BU took down the Retrievers in a 3-2 in their last faceoff, snapping UMBC's 23-match win streak against America East opponents.
The Retrievers rank second with a 3-1 conference record, losing a five set match against Albany, Oct. 8. UMBC is most recently coming off a road 3-0 sweep of NJIT last Sunday, Oct. 15.
Next up, the Bearcats will host conference opponents Albany Friday, Oct. 27, at 6 p.m. and NJIT Sunday, Oct. 29, at 1 p.m. inside West Gym.
