Men’s Soccer Wins 3-1 at UAlbany

Bearcats break match open with pair of second-half goals

ALBANY, N.Y. — Freshman forward Anthony Randazzo and sophomore midfielder Calvin Moe each scored within a four-minute span midway through the second half, powering Binghamton (3-6-2, 1-0-2 AE) to a 3-1 victory over UAlbany (4-7-1, 0-2-1 AE) in an America East men's soccer game on Saturday evening at the Bob Ford Field at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium. With the victory, the Bearcats are now in sole possession of fourth place in the conference.

With the score tied 1-1, Randazzo's goal came at the 68:03 mark of the game when he kicked the ball from right in front of the goal and found the back of the net. It marked the first goal of his collegiate career.

Just three minutes and 58 seconds later, Moe also scored the first goal of his Binghamton career after heading the ball into the net off a throw-in by graduate student back Michael Bush. This marked Bush's second assist of the season and eighth of his career.

The first goal of the game, however, was scored by Mamadi Jiana of UAlbany. It came off a pass by Ander Castillo in the 31st minute.

It appeared that the Bearcats would be held scoreless in the first half. That was until an Albany player inadvertently kicked the ball into his own net in the 43rd minute.

After being out shot 4-2 in the first half, Binghamton turned the game around in the second half. The Bearcats out shot UAlbany 6-2 over the final 45 minutes to finish with an 8-6 advantage.

"What a great response by our guys, especially in the second half," head coach Paul Marco said. "We started the match well but gave up a bad goal to go behind early. Our back four played well the rest of the match and we were able to protect and built on our lead. UAlbany is a good team and this was a big win for us."

Binghamton will host Vermont next Saturday for its Homecoming Game at 6:07 p.m.

NOTES: The three goals scored by the Bearcats ties their season high. They also scored three goals against St. Bonaventure back on Sept. 5.
