STORY LINES
- Binghamton (1-0) defeated Bloomsburg 72-59 on Monday evening. Junior forward
Genevieve Coleman scored a game-high 18 points while redshirt sophomore guard
Jadyn Weltz finished with 16 points, seven rebounds and six assists.
- Siena (0-0) opens the season having been picked to finish second in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). The Saints return six of their top seven scorers from last season, including junior forward Anajah Brown and sophomore guard Elisa Mervius – both of who were named to second-team preseason All-MAAC selections.
- Binghamton leads the all-time series against Siena 5-4. Last season, however, the Saints took a 54-50 home decision on Dec. 5. Current graduate student guard
Denai Bowman had 16 points while Coleman added 10 points. Brown, however, led all scorers with 17 points.
In the America East preseason poll, Binghamton was picked to finish fourth out of nine teams. Bowman, meanwhile, was named to the preseason all-conference team for the second year in a row.
- The Bearcats return four starters from last season – Bowman, Weltz, Coleman and redshirt sophomore guard
Ella Wanzer. Like Siena, the Bearcats also return six of their top seven point scorers.
- Bowman is currently ranked No. 11 all time with 1,221 career points. In 10
th place all time is Karen McClelland (1996-00) with 1,227 career points. In ninth place – with 1,229 career points – is Alicia Brennan (1986-90) and eighth place belongs to Rachel Laws (2002-06) with 1,246 career points.
- Bowman also currently ranks seventh all-time with 289 career assists – one behind sixth-place Kim Shaw (1997-01) who finished her career with 290 assists.
- Coleman continues to be one of the most accurate shooters in program history. Her .462 field goal percentage (189-409) currently ranks eighth all time in program history.
- With a .377 three-point field goal percentage (78-of-207), Wanzer currently ranks sixth all time in program history. She led the America East last year in three-point field goal percentage (.398) and tied for first with 3.7 three-point field goals per game.
- Exactly two years ago – in the season-opener against Siena on Nov. 9, 2021 – Bowman scored a then-career-high 23 points. The victory took place on the Bearcats' home court.
- Binghamton is looking to start off a season 2-0 for the fifth time in the last six years. A victory would also mark the third straight campaign in which the Bearcats have won their first two contests.
