Tymu Chenery has been named America East Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon. It's the first weekly honor for Chenery and he becomes BU's first player of the week recipient this season.
He also was selected as BU's Athlete of the Week.
Chenery poured in a career-high 31 points to lead Bearcats to a 91-79 win over Le Moyne on Saturday. He hit 13-of-17 shots, including 5-of-6 from 3-point range. Chenery's 13 field goals matches the most of any America East player this season. He scored 16 points in first half and added 15 more in the second as the Bearcats pulled away. Chenery also recorded first career double-double by adding a game-high and career-high 12 rebounds. He posted four blocks and two assists for good measure.
His 31 points marked the fourth time in the last five games Chenery has gone for 20 or more points. In the process, he raised his team-high season scoring average to 15.6, good for seventh in the conference. He also ranks third in blocks (1.9) and 10th in FG% (49%). His blocks total (19) ranks 43rd in the entire country.
