STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Binghamton track & field program took part in the Seahawk Shootout on Friday at the Ocean Breeze Facility. Hosted by Wagner, the meet did not have team scoring.

Binghamton posted five second-place performances at the meet. On the men's side, redshirt freshman Brian Luciano was second in the weight throw (61-8) while junior Jaston Ormsby was second in the shot put (49-3 ¼) and third in the weight throw (59-1).

On the women's side, junior Lucciana Robertson was second in the high jump (5-6 ¼) and senior Jenna Chan was the runner up in the 60 hurdles (8.61).. In addition, the 4x400 relay team of junior Hillary Abankwa, graduate student Sophia Morone, sophomore Angie Mesa-Espinosa and freshman Kaya Duran clocked a second-place time of 3:53.45.

Abankwa also finished third in the 300 (39.47) while Duran was third in the 600 (1:36.17). Sophomore Alyssa Armitage, meanwhile, was third in the women's pole vault (11-9 ¾).

Abankwa's time broke the previous school record of 39.68 set by Brittany Korsah back in 2018. Duran, meanwhile, broke the Binghamton women's freshman record of 1:37.62, which was set by Sophia Gelard in 2018. 

Also breaking a Binghamton freshman record were Logan Hayes in the men's 600 and Marcus Nahim in the men's 300. Hayes placed 14th out of 51 finishers but his time of 1:24.17 broke the previous Binghamton rookie mark set by Mark Sitler back in 1980. Nahim was 11th in the 300 but his time of 35.25 edged the previous record of 35.25 set by Zaid Al-Doori in 2011.

Binghamton is off until the Bucknell/Gulden Invitational on Jan. 20.
