FORT MYERS, Fla. – Binghamton (1-4) lost a pair of games at the second day of the Florida Gulf Coast Tournament on Saturday at the FGCU Softball Facility. The Bearcats were defeated 4-0 by LIU (1-2) in the opener and fell 4-1 to Southern Illinois (3-0) in the second game.
Kira Buckner of LIU held the Bearcats to one hit and struck out 11 batters. She also did not issue a walk.
With the win, Buckner is 1-0 this season while junior pitcher
Allison L'Amoreaux's record dropped to 0-2.
Stinson Elliott of Southern Illinois, meanwhile, allowed just one run, one hit and five base runners. Her record is now 1-0. Freshman pitcher
Brianna Roberts was tagged with the loss, dropping her record to 1-1.
The Bearcats' lone run came on a sacrifice fly by redshirt sophomore pinch hitter
Brianna Santos in the top of the sixth inning. It was her second RBI of the tournament.
Binghamton concludes its stay at the Florida Gulf Coast Tournament with a 10 a.m. game against UNC-Greensboro on Sunday.
