Women's tennis falls at Marist 5-2

Aruj wins at No. 2 singles, BU captures doubles point but comes up short in road match

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Host Marist won five of the six singles matches to move past visiting Binghamton women's tennis 5-2 Saturday afternoon at the Cross Court Tennis Facility.

Sophomore No. 2 Natalia Aruj earned a three-set win in her singles match after earlier contributing to BU's doubles point. Aruj and her freshman partner Loren Cuomo were first off the court with a resounding 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. Then in singles, Aruj rallied from a set down to post her 12th win of the year. 

Also helping the Bearcats capture the doubles point was the No. 3 tandem of junior Abby Ackroyd and sophomore Maria Pereira, who went to a tiebreak before prevailing 7-6 (7-5). 

Binghamton next plays at Princeton Friday morning before hosting Rider on Sunday at the Lane-Starke Tennis Center.
