STORY LINES

- Binghamton (1-4) opened its season at the Florida Gulf Coast (FGCU) Tournament last weekend. Freshman pitcher Brianna Roberts – the current America East Rookie of the Week – went 1-1 with 12 strikeouts in 11.0 innings of work. Junior third baseman Shelby Carvalho and redshirt sophomore pinch hitter Brianna Santos each homered and drove in a pair of runs during the weekend. Graduate student second baseman Alli Richmond, meanwhile, had a pair of RBI doubles.

- Bellarmine (0-4) opened its 2023 campaign at the Presbyterian Invitational last weekend. Chloe Collins hit a team-best .333 during the tournament with a home run and pair of RBI. In 2022, Bellarmine finished 10-41.

- This marks the first-ever meeting between Binghamton and Bellarmine in softball.

- Towson was scheduled to open its season at the Coastal Carolina Tournament – but the event was canceled due to the weather. In 2022, the Tigers finished 14-33. Picked to finish eighth in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA), Towson has a pair of players on this year's CAA watch list - Mackenzie Lake and Briana Ramirez.

- Binghamton and Towson have yet to square off in softball.

- Sacred Heart opens its season this weekend. In 2022, the Pioneers finished 13-42. Picked to finish fourth in the Northeast Conference (NEC), Sacred Heart returns three all-conference selections – Alyssa Gonzales, Jenna Howard and Amy Petrovich.

- Binghamton is a perfect 2-0 against Sacred Heart during the two schools' NCAA Division I era. The Bearcats last won 8-1 on March 21, 2004 at the James Madison Invitational.

- Furman (1-2) lost 10-0 to No. 10 Clemson on Tuesday. For the season, Ashley Linkins is batting a team-best .444 while Riley Ludlam is hitting .375. In 2022, the Paladins finished 22-33.
